Well the people of Quraysh used to say nasty things to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam false accusations, words of belittling they tried to be literal but they would never succeed because nobody can belittle the messenger sallallahu alayhi wasallam they mocked at they scoffed at and the only thing that happened was their own status was dropped.
