Assalamu alaikum Ustadha. I hope this finds you well in Shaa Allah. Is it permissible for me to ask my husband for a divorce out of sheer unhappiness? I understand that patience in marriage cannot be overstated, but I also strongly believe that marriage, especially in Islam is a place of joy, and that it takes communication to make it work. My husband is about twice my age and will never be willing to try therapy, or even empathy… May Allah ease our affairs.
